Woking are currently joint top of the National League South, along with Billericay Town, they have only suffered two defeats so far this season, once away at Wealdstone and at home to Dulwich Hamlet. They currently have the highest average crowd in the division at over 1700 and had a crowd of 1,001 for their game in the last round of the FA Cup at home to Isthmian Division One South Central side Tooting & Mitcham United – who play at step 4, the same as Rovers.
Woking have pedigree in the FA Cup and reached the fourth round in the early nineties, last season they took League One side Peterborough United to a replay in the second round proper. They have also had some glory days at Wembley, winning the FA Trophy three times in the nineties and also being finalists again in 2006.
Kempston’s progress to this stage of the FA Cup marks their best run in the competition for thirty eight years. In 1980, it was a home defeat to Hayes, then of the Isthmian Premier division, step one of the pyramid at the time, that ended the run.
This season’s cup run for Kempston began back in August away at Desborough Town, a three nil win with goals from Shane Bush, Josh Crawley and Nathan Tshikuna sealing progress. An away game at Chalfont St. Peter was the reward and a one all draw, thanks to another Crawley goal earned a replay. The replay finished two all, after Crawley had put Rovers in front, Ty Deacon had to net a late equaliser to reach extra time. Tshikuna’s bizarre red card late in normal time saw Rovers hanging on slightly, but prevailed on penalties by four goals to one. Martin Conway saving and scoring in the shootout. The second qualifying round saw Rovers play host to Marlow, a single goal from Harlem Sambu saw Kempston through and set up this date with Woking.

Supporters wishing to travel to this game on the coach, there is still limited availability left. The coach departs from the club at 10am, costing £10pp. Please email markkennett@hotmail.com
