Kempston named one trialist in their starting line up with a further five on the bench as Izale McLeod made his first appearance of preseason so close to the ground where he was once a hero.
The former MK Dons front man was a constant thorn in the side of the MK Robins’, the new name for Buckingham Town, defence. However the experienced forward failed to register on the scoresheet despite a number of attempts – including taking the ball comfortably round the goalkeeper in the first half. The combination of pace on the ball and the angle left McLeod with no option but to pull the ball back, where the danger was eventually cleared.
In the second half, sub Evan Beldon did well to get in behind the Robins’ defence with his pace and his cut back to one of Rovers’ trialist was met with a miss-timed finish. Another of Rovers’ trialists saw an effort cleared off the goal line before it was scrambled for a corner. At the other end, Carl Knox made one comfortable save after some neat interplay saw MK in behind.
Next up for Rovers first team is a home friendly on Tuesday night against Sandridge Rovers from Hertfordshire. Entry is free and kick off is seven forty five.
Andy Kirby kit game prediction – we guessed blue and we were in home colours against MK Robins’ away strip (1/2)
