The final day of the season is upon us, hosting Waltham Abbey at Hillgrounds on Saturday. With Rovers not being able to move up or down in the table and Waltham Abbey being able to get into the top half, it is a match with not much riding on it, but a match both teams will be looking to get three points to end the season well.
It has been well documented recently that Rovers may gain an extremely fortunate reprieve with Welwyn Garden City having failed their ground-grading for Step 4, meaning the Citizens would be placed in 20th position, moving Rovers up to 17th, avoiding the dreaded relegation playoff. The Hertfordshire side have appealed this, so this is not yet a formality.
Rovers have had a disastrous Easter weekend, defeats at Wantage and Biggleswade have passed the goals conceded in the league this season to 100, although goals scored is just one shy of 50. Javin Dougan's goal on Monday did put Rovers in the lead and gave Rovers hope of a valuable three points, but a clumsy 10 minutes gave Biggleswade the points.
Rovers are still without Massingham who is in his rehabilitation stage of his recovery, we will be hoping to see the centre back in action during pre-season. Cooper is still recovering from his knock at Aylesbury United. Rovers' attacking options are high in demand, Hayford, Charles, Johnson, Dougan, Wielblad and Baker all with healthy competition for starting places and to be involved next season.
Waltham Abbey have had a good season, currently placed in 11th on 49 points. A 4-2 win over Rovers back in November which had a brace from Lodovica for Rovers, as well as a red card for Knox on a frustrating afternoon. For much of the season Abbey were flirting with the relegation playoff, but every time they got within touching distance they pulled off wins to put distance between themselves and 18th. One defeat in their last eight which was to Berkhamsted has improved an up and down first half to the season.
