Alex Troke netted twice as Ilkeston came from behind to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
In the first half, it appeared to be one of those days for the Robins, as they saw two players withdrawn through injury before Kempston took the lead. Jordan Slama threading through to Alvin Magagada who placed the ball beyond Durant in the home goal. The lead could've been more, Erin Amu had rounded Durant but couldn't get a shot away under pressure and another chance was cleared off the line after Robbie Goodman caused the keeper to fumble.
After the break, Ilkeston were sharper but Rovers held firm until after the hour. Troke was on hand to powerfully nod home from a cross and on seventy minutes, he was Johnny-on-the-spot after a poor clearance allowed him to poach the winner. Joe Maguire made Durant sweat with a backpass late on that was "a little closer to the line than I'd have liked" according to the keeper. Durant had the last word with a fine diving save from a Ben Baker free kick at the death.
Ilkeston march on into the next round, while Rovers have Welwyn Garden City as their next destination in a week's time.
With FA Trophy results going the way they did, Rovers clash with Bedford Town originally scheduled for Haloween, will now take place on Tuesday November 10th, tickets will be on sale through Bedford Town's online portal via their website as an all ticket fixture.
