Last season, Leighton finished fourth, only seven points off the promotion places. Their magnificent run to the FA Vase quarter finals, coupled with the frankly awful winter meant that they were playing catch up for most of the second part of the season with their league fixtures, sometimes playing four games in a week.
There were several familiar names in the Leighton Town squad over the course of last season, George Boland, Josh Crawley, Grant Fryer, Ash Fuller, Hateley Mercer, Dave Murphy, Ricki Wigg-Booden and Tom Wyant all turned out for Town at some point last season. While Lea Coulter, Tom Guiney and Dom Marsala have older Rovers connections.
Basic directions;
Head towards Milton Keynes on the A421, then take the first exit at the roundabout, staying toward the middle or right hand lane to follow signs for Woburn. Take the third exit on the next roundabout, toward Husborne Crawley. Take the first left into School Lane, then at the end of this, turn right onto Turnpike Road, A4012. At the end of the road, turn left into Woburn village itself, then at the cross roads, turn left into Leighton Street. Follow this road cross country to the A5, take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A5 and then turn right to follow the sign for Heath & Reach. Turn left on to Mile Tree Road (second left) and then continue straight until you reach the end of the road, in Leighton. Turn left then go right at the roundabout, before taking the first exit at the next roundabout. Continue over two further roundabouts and the entrance to the ground is on the right immediately after the Morrisons petrol station. The car parking space should be ample for our visit.
