Did you know… Rushden's growth has resulted from a number of industries, including lacemaking and farming, and especially shoemaking and associated trades. In the mid-1900s there were well over 100 boot and shoe factories in Rushden but today there are only four shoemaking companies left in Rushden
On this day in Rovers history… Rovers first game on this date was in 1897, when the Walnut Boys faced off against Bedford Albion in the Bedford & District League, which would go on to become the South Midlands League. There is no recorded result for this game sadly. The last game on this date for Rovers was a 5-2 win at Eynesbury Rovers in 2010 on the way to promotion.
This is the second round of the Southern League Cup, there is no extra time in this game as it will go straight to penalties if required.
Diamonds visited Kempston in pre-season, winning with two late goals after a fantastically even contest for the first eighty minutes.
Rushden have endured a poorer start to the season than many would have predicted pre-season and find themselves struggling in lower mid-table of the new Southern Central division.
