Potton‘s current form is patchy. Having been knocked out of both the FA Cup and Vase at the first hurdle, they have only recorded three victories so far this season. They currently sit twelfth in their league, which is one below ours. They were promoted to Step 5 of the pyramid in the same summer that they were switched from the UCL to the Spartan League. Popular and successful manager, Steve Khune left the club in the summer.
Kempston’s recent record in the county cup is fairly poor. Apart from a semi-final appearance in 2017, where Rovers became the first ever side to reach that stage despite not actually scoring any goals, is the recent highlight. The last two seasons have seen Rovers exit at the first hurdle, in 2017-18 to Biggleswade Town and in 2018-19 to Luton. This is Rovers first away tie in the competition since visiting Stotfold in 2015-16. Since the turn of the century, Kempston Rovers have only scored three goals in fourteen ties in this competition and have not won a tie in ninety minutes since 1996 at Langford. On the positive side, however, the club have won this competition four times, which is more than some of our other local rivals. Rovers last lifted the trophy in 1992, a Darren King goal was enough to see off Totternhoe at Stotfold’s Roker Park ground.
Basic directions;
Head East on the A421 and take the exit toward Sandy A603 (as if heading to Bedford Town) and follow the A603 all the way through Moggerhanger and cross the A1 into Sandy. Take the 3rd exit on the roundabout in Sandy to stay on the B1042. Go through Sandy, over the railway. The road takes you into Potton. Go straight over three roundabouts and then turn right at The Royal Oak pub (3rd right after the last roundabout). Go over one roundabout, where the new housing is and the entrance to the ground is on the left.
