The competitive season came upon us with the most prestigious competition in the world. Long Melford travelled from south west Suffolk, looking to build on their good start to the Thurlow Nunn League.
There were five debutants for Rovers, with Lincoln, Laws, Quigley, Dahie, Stratton and Baker all retained from last season.
The sides went in goalless at the break, Quigley and Stratton with Rovers' best opportunities, but quite an even 45 minutes in terms of chances and possession.
Into the second half and Rovers upped the intensity, Ben Baker with an excellent opportunity which was cleared off the line by the Melford defender.
Wielblad was introduced just past the hour mark for Muyembe, and the 18 year old got the breakthrough on 84 minutes. Once again Baker involved whose cross found Wielblad the curl into the corner.
Into stoppage time and the game was wrapped up, Baker once again linking and Wielblad tucked home from a tight angle; game over.
An impressive performance from Rovers who had involvements from current and previous Reserve, Academy and Colts players, paving the way for another FA Cup game in a fortnight where we welcome Wisbech Town to Kempston.
