A 40th minute goal gave Dereham the spoils in this rescheduled FA Trophy match.
Before the game, both teams as well as fans and management showed their respects to Her Majesty as well as Monty Kennett, with a minute's silence and applause respectively.
The first half hour of the game was very quiet, both teams cancelling each other out with only half chances, Rovers' best effort fell to Ben Baker who nearly got on the end of a cutback from close range.
The scoring was opened in the 40th minute, Rovers cheaply gave away possession on the right, before Mo Hassan travelled unchallenged and drilled into the bottom corner past George Rose.
Into the second half and The Walnuts showed more intent, Ben Stevens with a shot after cutting in from the right, however it was a straight forward grab for the Magpies 'keeper.
Just five minutes later on 58 minutes, Rovers had their best chance of the game. Emmanuel Dahie playing an excellent disguised ball through to Ben Baker who timed his run well; however his shot was well smothered by the Dereham goalkeeper.
Chris Nunn introduced Pemi Aderoju with 15 minutes to go, hoping that he could show a similar impact to the one he made against Bedford Town 10 days ago. The striker's best opportunity came in stoppage time where he made a good connection with his head from a corner, but unfortunately landed on the roof of the net.
Rovers gave their all in the second period, but a sloppy mistake and the quality in the final third not quite being there meant that Dereham progress into the next round. Our next fixture is this Saturday where we host Hertford Town at Hillgrounds.
