Rovers were comprehensively beaten by Biggleswade FC in the semi final of the Beds Senior Cup.

Kempston Rovers took on Biggleswade FC in the Bedfordshire Cup semi final at Hillgrounds where the winner will play in the final at Kenilworth Road at Luton Town’s ground on the 21st March.

A decent start in the opening 5 minutes from Biggleswade saw a good passage of play when Charlie Hayford fed the ball through to Alex Marsh who crossed but keeper George Rose did well to block it and grab the ball.

Rovers had a good opportunity to go 1-0 up with a tamed header from James Hatch saw his header comfortably saved by Biggleswade keeper Dan Green.

In the 8th minute, Biggleswade won a penalty when Seb Simpson brought down Jack Dreyer in the box. Alex Marsh took the penalty and scored, sending the keeper the wrong way and placing it in the middle of the goal in the 9th minute.

Rovers pressed for an equaliser as they had a free kick in the inside D. Ben Stevens' free kick was blocked by the wall and his rebound was blocked once again going out for a Rovers corner in the 12th minute

Rovers had the best chance to grab an equaliser was in the 19th minute when Magloire Muyembe won the ball in the middle and found a great pass to Harvey Williams who went past a couple of Biggleswade players and was threw but Biggleswade keeper Dan Green was brave to come out and block the shot with a great save.

In the 37th minute a good cross from Adam Hunt found the head of Biggleswade's Jack Dreyer as he headed the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-0 to Biggleswade.

The half time whistle sounds as Biggleswade lead Rovers 2-0.

Biggleswade had the ball in the back of the net but it was offside in the 50th minute.

Biggleswade made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute on a counter attack when George Bailey passed the ball to Lawrie Marsh who did a throw ball to Adam Hunt who blasted home to make 3-0 Biggleswade and put the game to bed.

Rovers had a couple of chances to get a goal in the final 15 minutes of the game with Muyembe volleying the ball from outside of the box but was palmed away by Biggleswade keeper Dan Green. Pemi Aderoju had two chances to score from his head but both attempts went over the bar.

But in the final seconds of the game, Mekhi Angol’s deflected shot saw Biggleswade go 4-0 against Rovers.

Once Biggleswade made it 4, the referee blew the whistle for full time. Rovers missed out on the final of the Bedfordshire Cup, good luck to Biggleswade in the final on the 21st and thank you all for your support during the game.
