Kempston welcomed Hertford to Hillgrounds in which was the first league fixture for Hertford in nearly a month. Rovers were looking to get back to winning ways following back to back defeats in the Emirates FA Cup and Isuzu FA Trophy respectively.

The deadlock was broken in the 16th minute, winger Ben Stevens capitalising on an error from the Hertford defence for him to drill into the near corner. On excellent finish from the winger to grab his 4th of the season.

It was two soon after, Stevens once again involved on 32 minutes where good build up led to his cross being diverted in by Emmanuel Dahie at the near post. The cross may have got a deflection, but Dahie will definitely be claiming it.

The visitors were given a lifeline in first half stoppage time, goalkeeper George Rose bringing down Ogbonna as the winger found himself throug. Lassen stepped up and converted the penalty, albeit a hand from Rose in the Rovers net, arguably a goal Hertford deserved for their pressure since the second Rovers goal.

Rovers looked to have it wrapped up on 70 minutes, a counter attack following a Hertford corner ended up with Ben Baker going through on goal and slotting home comfortably following an excellent through ball from Stratton.

It got nervy for Kempston with two minutes to go, Dummett this time the culprit as Hertford were awarded a second penalty. This time Lassen sent Rose the wrong way to half the deficit.

Kempston held on for the three points and extend their unbeaten league run and move up to third. Rovers now have a fortnight without a game, with our next fixture on the 1st October as we travel to Harlow Town.
