Rovers made the trip to FC Romania as they looked to return to winning ways. Ash Fuller made two changes to the squad, Kyle Lincoln returning as well as Nathan Olukanmi, in place of Rafal Wielblad who was absent and Taylor Bakogeorge who was on the bench. There was also space for Jacob Anderson on the bench, signed from MK Dons for the remainder of the season.
Rovers created the first chance of the game, Dahie putting Hatch through at a tight angle but his poked effort was off target. Five minutes later Stevens this time the creator, his wonderful control as well as beating his man out wide gave him the opportunity to cut back for Dahie, but the midfielder's effort was well blocked.
Hatch had another opportunity half way through the half. Rovers regularly looked threatening from corners, a well-worked routine between Olukanmi and Stevens ended with the latter putting in an excellent cross which found Hatch, but he couldn't direct his poked effort past the near post.
The hosts ended the half well creating a couple of half chances, Rose was well positioned to palm a powerful effort away before Lee Cooksey put in an excellent defensive header from six yards out.
Into the second half and Rovers started perfectly. It took just three minutes to break the deadlock. Initially Olukamni did well to chase down a lost cause and win a throw for Rovers. From the resulting throw, Stevens once again supplying a perfect cross which found Hatch in acres of space to pick his spot with his head and put the Walnuts one up.
Just five minutes later Hatch had an excellent chance to double his and the team's lead. He robbed possession of the FCR defender at the back, which the home side felt unfairly, but the Rovers number nine failed to convert as the home goalkeeper stood tall.
Thankfully the miss didn't prove costly as it was two on the hour mark. Another dangerous corner which was initially headed by Cooksey at the back post across to Dahie, Dahie struck the bar from close range but the rebound fell back to Cooksey to head home.
The final half hour was open, but neither team added to the scoreline. Ash Fuller introduced Harry Stratton following his travels, as well as more appearances for Colts and Academy prospects respectively; Pemi Aderoju and Israel Ajana.
Rovers have a quick turnaround as we are back at Hillgrounds on Tuesday evening in Beds Senior Cup action, Potton United the visitors.
