Didcot travelled to Bedfordshire for the first fixture between the two sides this season, looking to cement their place in the playoff places.
The first half was quiet, the visitors had more of the possession and were looking to put the ball in behind, but it was the hosts who were creating the better chances. On loan Luton Town midfielder Ollie Hemlin got on the end of Ben Stevens' cross, but his header beat the crossbar. James Hatch also had a good opportunity but his close range volley was straight at the goalkeeper.
The second half was much more lively, as the Railwaymen earnt themselves a penalty just four minutes in. Lee Cooksey was adjudged to have brought down Glover after good build up, Hedges drilled home the resulting penalty although Rose almost got his feet to it.
Rovers replied just ten minutes later, initially Harvey Williams' shot was dealt with as he was through on goal, but the same chance fell a minute later to Ben Stevens who rounded the goalkeeper to slot home, a cross from the right from Kerins evaded Hatch but fell to the winger who showed great composure.
Half way through the half the referee dished out three yellow cards and one red card, to Joe Green for Didcot. James Hatch was put through on goal whilst under pressure from the two Didcot centre halves, the goalkeeper came out well to collect but Hatch had left a foot in. Green reacted badly to this and put his hands on Hatch whilst he was on the floor. After a good five minutes of shoving, the referee gave the defender his marching orders. as well as cautions for Hatch and Lincoln for Rovers, and Smith for Didcot.
The ten men played into the visitors hands as Hedges put his team in front just two minutes later, an excellent volley 20 yards out, which proved to be the winner. A long ball from defence was headed by Kerins but it fell into the path of the striker who teed himself up expertly.
Rovers stay in 12th with 11 fixtures to play, 14 points off playoffs and 12 points off the relegation playoffs. Next up is our Beds Senior Cup semi final as we host Biggleswade FC at Hillgrounds this Tuesday.
