Play off placed Didcot travelled to Kempston looking to cement their place in the top 5, whereas the hosts were looking to make it two home wins on the bounce. Rovers made two changes from the win over Hertford on Tuesday, Boateng and Naylor starting in place of Amghar and Quigley.
The visitors started better, and had a good chances to open the lead from the spot on the half hour mark, but Hudson in the Rovers net guessed correctly. The penalty was given against Boateng who went to ground in the area.
The momentum swung and Rovers took the lead through Harry Stratton. Miguel Lopes DeMatos' long free kick was too hot to handle for the Didcot 'keeper, Stratton collecting the rebound and rounding the Diddy #1 to slot into an empty net.
Into the second half and the game was even, the first change was made by Rovers, Reserves regular Taylor Bakogeorge replacing Christopher Manangu up top.
Into the second half and Rovers were reduced to ten men once again. Boateng with a rash tackle for The Walnuts whilst the visitors were breaking. This forced Scott Dash into a second change, Drakulic being sacrificed for Samuel Marfo to make his Kempston debut.
However, Rovers went on to double their lead, Hayford with his fourth goal in three games following excellent work from Jaiden Irish on the right wing.
Rovers held out for the win and moved up to 11th. 10 days off from league action until we travel to Barton Rovers, however the FA Trophy is upon us as we host Newcastle Town this Saturday at Hillgrounds.
