A first match in a fortnight for Rovers after last week's postponement, looking to build on the previous outing at Harlow where all three points were bagged.
Scott Dash gave Connor McShane his debut at left back, with DeMatos and Cooper partnering in the heart of the defence. Gibson also started ahead of Mensah in midfield, with the front four staying the same.
Rovers started poorly, Chirimuuta gifting the hosts a foul on the flank which was put into a great area for Solomon to rise and head past Knox.
The second goal also came down the Magpies' left, Chirimuuta getting a touch to the cross but the deflection was unkind to Knox, floating over him for Balogun to tuck into an empty net.
Rovers had the ball in the net through Lodovica, but the strikers' rebound was adjudged to have been offside following Charles' strike against the woodwork.
Into the second half and Dash brought on Debayo and Mensah for Chirimuuta and Brown. Rovers pulled a goal back just four minutes into the half, good build up play from Gibson as he fed the ball out to the left for Charles to put in a perfect cross for Dahie to head in from close range.
Rovers failed to capitalise or increase the pressure as they halved the deficit, the best opportunity falling to Johnson shortly after he was subbed on, heading over after more good work from Charles.
The hosts wrapped up the win seven minutes from time, Cooper's pass to Charles was intercepted and one through ball set Balogun through to slot into the bottom corner.
Rovers stay in 17th, Colney Heath closing the gap to 10 points. Our next fixture is on the road again as we face FC Romania in Cheshunt.
